Well, we've been listening to the players and doing changes based on the feedback received. The latest bigger changes before the major patch were
Now we've been back to the game play before that patch for a few weeks and the player count's remained the same - so at least the changes alone can't be the issue?
Running the server and developing the mod and the stats does take a considerable amount of each contributor's free time & effort as well as the (admittedly rather small) cost of running the servers. If people don't like the game/mod/server then the best course of action would be to open a constructive discussion at the forum and we might be able to improve things towards that direction.
We will be pushing out at least a few more patches, but in the longer run there wont be much point in hosting empty servers for a dead (or perhaps already undead at this point in time) game that many of us at least used to like.
As for community side issues - the forum is the best place to handle those through civilized discussion - and regarding the already partially discussed case of new source having been permabanned. I never wanted us to have permanent bans but after long discussions with Kai i did let the ban remain - as long as Kai'd have a chat with New Source at some point to try to come to terms under which that could've been lifted. For some reason that chat never happened though, and after various other changes I've lifted all bans the server had - and in the future the max ban length will be from a few hours to a few days.
As some may have noticed we've also started hosting an Unvanquished server as that game is aiming to be a successor for tremulous with a bit more modern game engine and hardware support. That server wont be receiving any new edge modifications at least for a while yet as the game is still in alpha stage. In the longer run the idea is (or at least was) to keep supporting both tremulous and Unvanquished servers as long as we'd have player base for those.
In short:
- Removing dodge
- Nerfing the goon pounce and rant trample damages
- Removing ability from basis to dual bomb.

In short:
- We're still working on things and hoping to provide a fun enough environment for people to play in
- We're hosting both Tremulous GPP and Unvanquished at the moment
- If the situation doesn't improve within a sensible time period we're gonna drop support for Tremulous and continue work on Unvanquished only.
